Training providers invited to apply for Board-approval to deliver supervisor training

02 Jul 2018

The psychology Board of Australia (the Board) is inviting applications from organisations, groups and individuals to become Board-approved providers of supervisor training programs across Australia.

The Board is committed to protecting the public by ensuring that only practitioners who are suitably trained and qualified to practise psychology competently and ethically are registered. Supervisors play a crucial role in helping the Board achieve its commitment through the development and assessment of Board-established competencies in those seeking general registration or area of practice endorsement.

In 2013 the Board introduced a competency-based supervisor training framework that is consistent with Board standards and best-practice regulation. The supervisor training framework aims to ensure that developing psychologists receive high-quality supervision and the public receive psychological services that are safe and of adequate quality.

The Board has determined to hold an expression of interest (EOI) process for Board-approved supervisor training providers every five years. In this EOI application round, successful applicants will be granted Board-approved supervisor training provider status from 1 January 2019 until 31 December 2023.

Applicants are invited to apply for Board-approval to deliver any one or more components of the supervisor training program (knowledge, skills and/or assessment components of full training, and/or master class training).

Multiple training providers will be selected to facilitate the delivery of supervisor training nationally, and to ensure the availability of a complete range of training components.

The Board is committed to ensuring national coverage of training delivery in both urban and regional areas, and is particularly interested in applicants who can deliver full training part two in regional locations and/or master class training via videoconference.

Applicants can view the application guide, selection criteria and supporting documents on the Board’s Supervisor training provider EOI web page. Applicants are also encouraged to view the advance copies of the new Guidelines for supervisor training providers and the Guidelines for supervisors for information about the Board’s supervisor training requirements.

Applicants must register on AHPRA’s eProcure portal to view the application questions and to submit an online application.

The EOI application period is open from 2 July 2018 and closes on 10 August 2018, 5:00PM AEST.
