Improvements to the online search for a supervisor have been launched by the Psychology Board of Australia (the Board).
The improved online search gives users access to:
The online search lists all Board-approved supervisors and search results show whether a supervisor is ‘available’ or ‘not available’ to be contacted. The 200 record limit for search results has been removed and users will see every single match for the selected search criteria.
A new secure messaging system helps to protect supervisors’ privacy by removing email addresses from the website and extra security measures ensure that supervisors receive only genuine enquiries from real people.
Supervisors who had previously given permission for their email address to be published have transferred to the new system as ‘available’. Their email is no longer visible on the website but an ‘email supervisor’ option will appear in their supervisor record.
Supervisors who had previously not given permission for their email address to be published will appear in search results as ‘not available’. The ‘email supervisor’ option does not appear in their supervisor record.
Supervisors who want to change their availability status or nominate a different supervisor email address should email [email protected] so their record can be updated.
Nominating to appear as ‘available’ does not obligate a supervisor to take on any new supervisees who make contact but indicates that a supervisor is open to the possibility of a new supervisee and allows users of search for a supervisor to send an enquiry message. A supervisor can then decide if they are currently interested in providing the type of supervision being sought.
